A SENIOR Tory MP has told Brits they need a better work ethic.

Shadow home secretary Chris Philp, who served under "Lettuce" Liz Truss's chaotic term, claimed it is their fault the country can't compete with others.

He reckons the UK needs to "up its game" against other countries like South Korea, China and India, and needs "everyone to make a contribution".

The Croydon South MP said he had worked hard in his career to set up businesses. He bragged: "It's worked for me, it can work for the country as well."
