LUKE LITTLER finally tasted victory under the Blackpool lights last night.
Littler was beaten by Michael van Gerwen in the first round at his debut World Matchplay in 2024 but wasted no time this year in getting his first win at the Winter Gardens.
The world champion averaged 121 as he took a 5-0 lead over Ryan Searle, before going on to win 10-2 with an average of over 108.
He will face Jermaine Wattimena in the second round after the Dutchman beat Peter Wright.
