Eddie desperate to rejoin the Euro elite

NEWCASTLE are determined to bring Champions League football back to St James' Park next season.

Two years ago, when the Saudi-backed Magpies were shock qualifiers for Europe's elite competition, Eddie Howe and his players were guarded about their ambitions throughout the campaign.

But that's not the case this season with Howe claiming he is "desperate" to be playing at that level again and man of the moment Alexander Isak admit- ting that is his chief goal, too.

The Toon boss is reluctant to say whether or not the Swede's Toon future is dependant on Newcastle hitting their target.

But Howe knows that if they are mixing it with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich next season, it will dramatically boost the chances of Isak staying put.
