Lee's primed for boss role thanks to tutor Kieran

- BY ALAN SMITH

LEE GRANT plunges into the choppy waters of management for real today - but the new Huddersfield boss says his job is already consuming every waking minute.

And the former Manchester United goalkeeper, 42, is confident he has the knowledge to succeed thanks to his apprenticeship under the man he says is Britain's best young manager.

Grant, whose Terriers host Leyton Orient in their League One opener, spent three years as an assistant to Kieran McKenna at Ipswich.

Having helped navigate the Tractor Boys from third tier to the Premier League, Grant believes that education will stand him in good stead - even if he is determined to be his own man.

“I can't think of anybody better” Grant says of McKenna.
