I can't stress enough the importance of drinking plenty of water beforehand with electrolytes to ensure you're hydrated. A hangover is usually caused from dehydration of the brain and electrolytes are a perfect way to make sure you're internally hydrated, also make sure you've had a nourishing meal before drinking.

Unfortunately, all those lovely Christmas cocktails are the worst thing for the waistline! Red wine, prosecco and champagne can be better options at Christmas - they all tend to have fewer than 100 calories per glass and compliment food well. Just be mindful of mixers and added sugars.
