Skipper Buttler on brink after latest shock white-ball exit

JOS BUTTLER is on the brink of quitting as England's white-ball captain after their humiliating Champions Trophy exit in Lahore.

An eight-run defeat by minnows Afghanistan knocked out England in the group stage and Buttler, wearing the haunted look of a condemned man, said: "For myself and the guys at the top, we should consider all possibilities.

"I don't want to make any emotional statements right now."

Joe Root (120 off 111 deliveries) played a blinder, but for England's fallen white-ball heroes it's the end of an error.
