FOX TO MISS AINTREE AFTER FALL

BACK and neck fractures have ruled Randox Grand National-winning rider Derek Fox out of this year’s Aintree meeting.

The top jockey was stretchered off the track on Thursday following an unseat from Ballydisco in a 3m2½f handicap chase at Sedgefield.

Fox was taken to hospital where it was found he had damaged lumbar and cervical vertebrae, putting him on the sidelines for a significant period of time.
