Iconic striker bids farewell after creating a legacy
THE BIG screen at the King Power Stadium bore the message: "Goodbye to the GOAT".
Jamie Vardy stood before it, holding a royal blue shirt with his surname there for the world to see.
As if anyone at Leicester City needed to be reminded who he was, or what he had done.
At first glance, that gushing tribute might be considered an overstatement.
But when you look down the list of players who trail in Vardy's wake in the Premier League goalscoring stakes, it's easy to see why the Foxes lavished such praise upon him.
His 143 goals beat the totals of the following strikers: Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dwight Yorke, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez, Dennis Bergkamp, Nicolas Anelka, and Romelu Lukaku.
However, there is one crucial difference between them and Vardy.
