No half-measures in last-chance saloon

- by ALEX HANKIN

TRUST Erling Haaland to bring the magic of the FA Cup to a TV screen near you this tea-time.

Manchester City survived a huge scare at Leyton Orient in the last round after resting so many players that even Jack Grealish got a start.

Haaland was at home in his onesie. There should be fewer frights for City backers when Plymouth visit (5.45pm, ITV4) - and fewer concerns about a half-hearted starting XI.

The historic old jug is the last turkey in the shop this year for City if you ignore June's FIFA Club World Cup, and who would blame you?

Plymouth can't ignore the more pressing perils of relegation from the Championship, but should be at full wallop here as well.

It still looks like a very long, very futile journey up north if, unlike previous Prem victims Brentford and Liverpool, City resist the temptation to take liberties with their team selection against the Pilgrims.
