In-form Wood looks juicy for Ipswich trip

CRYING OUT FOR A KIWI

BACK big Chris Wood to have us dabbing away tears of joy this afternoon.

Nostalgic punters of a certain age might already find themselves going a little moist around the eye when Nottingham Forest travel to Ipswich Town (3pm) at the end of a big week of European knockout football.

At the start of the 1980s, the whole continent bowed down to these two provincial English clubs, winners of the European Cup and UEFA Cup respectively.

They were simpler, cheaper times. In those days you could buy a round of drinks and a Hillman Imp with a pound note. Freddo frogs were three for a ha’penny, and each one the size of a house brick.

Nuno Espirito Santo is building something tasty at Forest, and while European qualification still looks a stretch, they are in a totally different league to Ipswich, or shortly will be.

The old-time merits of lofty target man Wood and Forest’s strong set-piece game draw the eye.
