BRENNAN JOHNSON had a “horrible” wait for his first international goal after VAR kept him sweating.

But given how amazingly successful the previous two weeks have been for him, it was in keeping with his recent script when referee Benoit Bastien finally gave it.

Johnson’s 86th-minute goal after coming on as a late sub for Gareth Bale earned Wales a deserved point against Belgium after Youri Tielemans fired the visitors ahead following Ethan Ampadu’s disallowed effort.

His leveller added to his list of heroics after scoring in both legs of Nottingham Forest’s play-off semi-final en route to promotion before coming off the bench in Wales’ play-off final win over Ukraine to reach the World Cup finals.

The 21-year-old, who finished a loan spell at League One Lincoln just 12 months ago, said: “That VAR wait was horrible, but it was all worth it.
