CHRIS DAVIES has saluted the siege mentality that has taken Birmingham to the cusp of glory.

The Blues boss admits having fostered an 'us against the world' spirit that could end with a promotion and cup double in the next eight days.

Two victories - today against Barnsley and on Tuesday at Peterborough - are followed by a date in the Vertu Cup final against Posh that could realise the twin landmarks.

Birmingham have lost just three times in League One and Davies admits that he has tried to turn the fact that the club is there to be shot at on its head.

He said: "I have tried to encourage the feeling that it's us against the rest. The players have enjoyed that feeling and that has brought us closer together.
