Mullins starting season in style

seems to like nice ground, lots of jumping, and three miles-plus.

Earlier, Mullins’ Davy Crockett was shortened to 10-1 favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham next March after defending his unbeaten record in the Seamus Mulvaney Bookmaker Novice Hurdle.

The son of Camelot and 2016 Champion Hurdle heroine Annie Power, a Punchestown bumper winner last June, made a winning start over timber at Galway in July.

And David Crockett doubled up over obstacles with a four-length margin from Arch Empire. “He’s taking after his mother,” said the champion trainer of Britain and Ireland, who will now aimfor the Grade Two Royal Bond Hurdle at Fairyhouse on November 30.

“He never loses an inch in the air-a proper hurdler who just bends his legs and gallops out the far side.”
