Mullins' raider is perfect fit at York

- By Mark Winstanley

WITH Royal Ascot looming large on the horizon, we could all do with getting a few quid to fire at the bookies next week, so my first crafty and cunning plan today is to back PALMAR BAY (1.50) in the Macmillan Handicap over seven furlongs at York.

Ralph Beckett's creature showed a willing attitude to score off a mark of 87 at Chelmsford on the first day of the month, and the assessor has been very fair in only raising the improving sort to a higher perch of 90.

Well housed in stall two and with William Buick booked, my selection has a lot going for him.

Ryan Moore did this column a favour when teaming up with Persica at Epsom last Saturday, so the fact Richard Hannon has turned to the world's greatest jockey once again to partner CLASSIC (2.05) in the BetMGM Handicap run over a mile at Sandown Park is enough for me to back him.

Rated 94 when first assessed, the four-year-old has slipped down to a winning ledge of 87.
