A LIE-IN at the weekend could make folk healthier and happier, say boffins.

Spending up to two hours longer in bed on Saturdays and Sundays could half the risk of depression.

It is believed extra snoozing especially benefits men and people aged between 40 and 60 who can't catch enough Z's in the week through work and family.

The lack of sleep can cause depression, weight gain, and a reduced life span.
