Rich make fools of us EVERY day

APRIL Fools' Day is nearly upon us... the day pranksters try to make people look like idiots.

It used to be a big thing.

Remember when astronomer Patrick Moore, inset, told radio listeners that due to a rare planetary alignment the Earth would experience a shift in its gravity, allowing them to float into the air.

At exactly 9.47am, Moore instructed his listeners to "Jump now!" making a fool of the many suckered in.

Or when people were duped as the BBC World Service announced Big Ben would be going digital, and henceforth be called "Digital Dave". What larks.

But nowadays we're all more likely to be made a fool of by big business and the Government.

Yet again, this April 1st we're facing a stack of bills all rising on the same date.
