SPIN MASTER HITS 'EM FOR SIX

- by GARY FITZGERALD

SHOAIB BASHIR produced another big performance to help crush Zimbabwe — but admitted he still needs to be more consistent

The England star is in red-hot form and ready to ramp up his performances when India arrive on these shores next month.

He was the stand-out performer, taking 6-81 in the second innings, as the home side swept aside minnows Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge.

Bashir, who became the youngest Englishman to take 50 wickets earlier in this one-off Test, celebrated his fourth five-fer in his short career.

On a day when Zimbabwe's batsmen showed some real spirit and defiance, England won by an innings and 45 runs.

And Bashir, 21, said: "I felt really good out there. It was a first-class performance from the boys and to beat any team by an innings is pleasing.

"I went on loan to Glamorgan at the start of the year to get some overs under my belt - and that decision is paying off now. Of course, there's always room to improve, and I need to work on my consistency.
