Nic says critics in Scotland can have no comeback after Dons didn't leave Cyprus empty-handed

NICOLAS MILANOVIC reckons Aberdeen's gutsy Conference League point in Cyprus will have silenced a lot of their Euro critics.

The Dons were the only Scottish team to put points on the coefficient board after they ground out a shock 0-0 draw away to AEK Larnaca.

The Cypriot team had been on maximum points after beating AZ Alkmaar and Crystal Palace but they were unable to break down Jimmy Thelin's side, who picked up their first point of the group phase.

Dons winger Milanovic, when asked if this result proved a point, answered: "Yes, I think so.

"We have started poorly in the Conference League against Athens and Shakhtar, so to get the point, I think it proved a lot of people wrong, especially around Scotland.

"Yes, it was good. We needed that point.

"We came in at the bottom end of the Conference, so coming here and getting any points is like a win for us.

"We were actually unlucky in the end not to get the three points but we're happy to take a point.

"We are running into good form, especially in the Premiership as well.

"So to carry that on to the next European games [against Noah and Strasbourg] would be good.

"We have now got two home games in the Conference League. So there should be plenty of opportunities there for us to get points."
