McTominay and Co suffer title blow

- BY BILL McINTYRE

NAPOLI suffered a major blow in their Serie A title defence as Antonio Conte's boys were thumped 3-0 by Juventus at the Allianz.

Jonathan David fired the home side ahead in the first half and further efforts from Kenan Yildiz and Filip Kostic secured Juventus’ emphatic victory.

The result marked Napoli’s first defeat in 10 games across all competitions - leaving Scott McTominay’s side trailing leaders Inter by nine points.

And striker David praised coach Luciano Spalletti, who took over in Turin towards the end of October.

David, who signed from Lille last summer, said: “He's had a huge impact because he’s a coach who demands a lot from his players.

“Time has helped me because it’s true I had to adapt to a new city, a new style of football, a new team!

Genoa stormed back from two goals down to sink 10-man Bologna 3-2 and move further away from the relegation zone.

Scotland star Lewis Ferguson and a Sebastian Otoa own goal had given the away side a two-goal cushion but the game turned after Lukasz Skorupski was sent off in 56 minutes.
