Gray and fans will expect huge reaction to rebuild momentum

- TAM MCMANUS

DAVID GRAY must have taken the paint off the walls during the midweek horror show at Motherwell.

I certainly hope he did because the response from Hibs has to be big after that abomination of a performance.

There was a fair bit of chatter about Hearts' bubble bursting last weekend when the league leaders lost at Aberdeen.

But Gray's men had a flamethrower taken to their own little burst of momentum, which had been building before they fell apart at Motherwell.

It was interesting to hear Pat Nevin indulge in potential title talk in the lead-up to the match.

He suggested that Hibs could be involved in a four-way scrap with their city rivals, Celtic and Rangers at the top of the table over the coming months.

But more displays like the 2-0 defeat in Lanarkshire and Hibs will be lucky to even make the top six.

That was a shocker on Tuesday night. A proper nightmare at Fir Park as they were obliterated inside 30 minutes by a slick home team.

There's no point in trying to dress it up. As much as I do not want to take any credit away from Jens Berthel Askou's boys, Hibs were woeful and that opening spell was the worst they have played all season.
