Spain's Puig emulates hero Seve with 0z win

LIV GOLF star David Puig hopes he is on the “right path’ to emulate hero Seve Ballesteros after becoming the first Spanish winner of the BMW Australian PGA since the Ryder Cup legend.

Puig was the first college player to join LIV in 2022. Now the Spaniard, 23, has won his maiden DP World Tour title by two strokes after shooting a closing 66 at Royal Queensland.

Five-time Major winner Ballesteros won this title in 1981, banking Aus$27,000, while got Aus$ $403,750.

“It feels unbelievable, especially winning here in Australia,” he said. “My name being with Seve's name as the only two Spaniards that won this event makes it even more special.
