CRISTIANO RONALDO saw red as the Republic of Ireland kept alive their World Cup dream with a stunning win over Portugal.

Troy Parrott's brilliant first-half double kept Roberto Martinez's side waiting to seal their place at next summer's finals and gave the Irish the chance of a playoff if they can beat Hungary on Sunday.

Manchester United and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo - who celebrated Ruben Neves' late winner in the reverse fixture last month in the face of defender Jake O'Brien - had said in the buildup he didn't want to be booed by the Irish fans.
