Warriors surge to URC summit by seeing off South Africans

GLASGOW blitzed the Bulls to move to the top of the URC table.

Franco Smith's side were fired up for this grudge match with the South Africans.

It was a thriller that ebbed and flowed before Warriors pulled away in the second half to seal a precious victory.

Glasgow captain Kyle Steyn said: "It was a really tough one as the Bulls kept firing shots.

"I thought we played a lot of good rugby in the first half and maybe didn't get the rewards for it.

"But I was really proud of the boys. When it got tough and got tight, that’s when they stood up and made it happen."

The home side almost got off to a flier. Scott Cummings made a brilliant burst down the middle before passing to George Horne. It looked certain that the Scotland scrumhalf would get over the line only to be stopped by some last-gasp defending.

But Glasgow kept up the early pressure and it eventually told.
