45 of 83 Wallace claims upheld

- BY NICOLA METHVEN

GREGG Wallace's string of shameful acts on MasterChef was yesterday laid bare, as the BBC insisted it will never employ the sacked star again.

A report into his behaviour after a seven-month investigation upheld 45 out of 83 complaints against the 60-year-old.

And while most related to his humour and sexual language on the BBC show, there was also one case of “unwanted physical contact” and three cases of “being in a state of undress”.

Wallace apologised but claimed bosses did not do enough to protect him.

The review into allegations against him on the show from 2005 to 2024 was published by law firm Lewis Silkin.

Other complaints upheld against Wallace included inappropriate comments (jokes and innuendo), sexually explicit comments, being culturally insensitive or racist and bullying.

Wallace's co-host on MasterChef John Torode also last night confirmed he was one of two others mentioned but not named in the report, and he had been accused of racist language. Wallace said of the findings: “I am deeply sorry for any distress caused. I never set out to harm or humiliate, it was never intended. This has been brutal. For a working-class man with a direct manner, broadcasting has become a dangerous place.

“I was the headline this time. But I won't be the last. There will be more casualties if the BBC continues down this path, where protecting its legacy matters more than protecting people.

“Some of my humour and language missed the mark. I always tried to bring warmth and support to MasterChef.”
