Seek advice if worried about benefit changes

But there's no need to worry as benefits changes are still to be decided

I KEEP hearing about benefit changes. I get Adult Disability Payment and Universal Credit and I'm worried they might be taken away. What's going to happen to my benefits?

RIGHT now, nothing is changing. The UK Government has proposed some changes to Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, but these are still going through the legislative process and could be altered or rejected altogether.

Since the original proposals, there have already been significant changes. For example, anyone who currently receives the Limited Capability for Work element of Universal Credit will continue to get it, as long as they remain eligible and meet the criteria.

The planned changes would only apply to new claimants from April 2026, not existing recipients.

It's also important to know that in Scotland, most disability benefits are devolved to the Scottish Government.
