Danish star hasn't lived up to his billing so far as Gers fans would've expected more

THEY say you shouldn't believe the hype.

And when it comes to Andreas Skov Olsen, it’s a mantra the Rangers fans would do well to bear in mind.

The Danish international’s arrival at Ibrox was greeted like the second coming of the Messiah ... or Brian Laudrup as he's known in Govan.

But of course expecting the on-loan Wolfsburg wideman to rock up and start performing anywhere close to the levels that his legendary countryman used to operate at was unrealistic. Frankly if he was that good, hed be nowhere near Ibrox.

Back in Laudrup’s day, Rangers were able to compete with clubs across the continent to sign top-class talent because they could afford to spend top dollar.

It cost £2.3million to bring the Ibrox Hall of Famer to Scotland from Fiorentina back in 1994 but in these overinflated times we now live in, that doesn't even get you an Oscar Cortes.

It will take a fee of £8m to make Skov Olsen's switch from Germany permanent but as we sit here today, you have to say that’s a transaction that looks every bit as uncertain as Danny Rohl’s title hopes.
