Salmond owed £350,000 at time of death, records show

ALEX Salmond had debts of nearly £350,000 when he died suddenly in October last year.

Official records show the former SNP first minister had assets worth just £2282, despite decades at the top of politics.

Details of Salmond's finances came as a trustee was appointed in the sequestration of his estate, a process akin to bankruptcy.

Salmond allies said he had been ruined financially after clearing his name in two court cases.
