Singer's wife reveals how he feared throat op would impact famous rasp

ROD Stewart's wife Penny knows when the rocker is sick - illness makes his famous spiky hair go floppy.

The Sailing singer has sported a trademark perky barnet throughout his long career.

Penny, 54, said: “There are one or two telltale signs when Rod is truly sick and not just bluffing.

“His hair flops like two sad curtains on either side of a middle parting.

“It’s as if his trademark bouffant throws in the towel, too, and needs some recuperation time.
