Anger as Scots minister refuses to follow UK move
A BAN on high-energy drinks for kids has been rejected by the Scottish Government despite a proposed crackdown south of the Border.
Public Health Minister Jenni Minto claims the “evidence” does not support a ban on under-16s being able to buy caffeine-based energy drinks such as Red Bull or Monster.
Wes Streeting, Labour's Secretary of State for Health, has backed a ban in England to prevent harm to children’s health.
The plan will make it illegal to sell energy drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre to anyone under 16.
