Desperate family in turmoil as Michaela's health deteriorates

- BY RUTH SUTER

A SCOTS holidaymaker is in an induced coma in Spain after falling and hitting her head - as her family try to raise the money to bring her home.

Michaela Hadley, 44, from Glasgow, was on holiday in Majorca when she slipped in her hotel room.

After phoning reception, she was taken to hospital - but her family were unaware of the accident until they saw staff cleaning blood in the room.

As her sister, Sharon McGrath, 46, rushed to hospital with her parents, the family were informed Michaela's kidneys were losing function.

Sharon said: "Me and mum went to the hospital with her passport and stuff and my mum got taken through to speak to my sister.

"The interpreter asked for the pass-code to her phone, then came back out to tell us she was moving to intensive care. We were taken to intensive care to then be asked if we knew Michaela's kidneys weren't working right.

"We went into the room - and my sister was awake at this point - we asked her if she was aware, and she said no. She was talking away like normal."
