THE man accused of shooting dead Eddie Lyons and Ross Monaghan “fears for his life" if he is caged over the deaths.

- BY JOHN-PAUL CLARK

Michael Riley, 44, is alleged to have murdered the pair in Fuengirola, Spain, on May 31.

He was arrested on an international arrest warrant by Merseyside Police on June 13 and is fighting a bid to extradite him to Spain to face charges over the assassinations at Monaghans Bar during the Champions League final.

Riley's solicitor told Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday that Riley believes his life will be in danger if he’s sent to a Spanish prison. Renata Pinter told the court that Article 3 of the Human Rights Act, “prohibits everyone from being subjected to torture, or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”.
