Jail staff's trans search powers widen

PRISON governors are being allowed to order searches of transgender inmates by officers of the same biological sex rather than adopted gender.
Justice Secretary Angela Constance signed off amendments to Scottish Prison Service rules beefing up governors' powers.
The amendments came into force on February 26, two days after the SPS's controversial revised transgender prisoner management policy.
