PARTICK THISTLE V ST JOHNSTONE

- FRASER MACKIE AT FIRHILL

TONY WATT insists the Jags and St Johnstone are not destined to dominate in a head-to-head scrap for Championship glory.

Partick Thistle gained revenge for their opening day 5-1 pummelling in Perth to move within three points of the summit.

And they can draw level with Saints if they beat Dunfermline in their game in hand at Firhill tomorrow.

Eight points clear of Ayr and Arbroath and a further point ahead of Pars, Jags have carved out a hefty gap to the best of the rest.

But Watt reckons those are legitimate dangers lurking off the pace - including Neil Lennon's inbound outfit.

Watt, who won the league with Dundee United two seasons ago, said: "I don't see the two of us going clear.

"In fact, I don’t think anyone is going to go clear. It’s not going to be a case of that this year. We've got Dunfermline here next and they were a good side when we played them.

"There is a lot of quality in the league. We got beat off Raith recently and Ayr posed us lots of problems.

"Even Ross County, a sleeping giant, could get it right and beat teams.
