Policies to 'help people get on in life', We won't waste time on infighting
KEIR Starmer insisted he will lead Labour into the next general election as he vowed to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
The Prime Minister said he did not want to waste time arguing about his position.
Instead, ahead of next week's Budget, he vowed to "help people get on in life".
He said: "I remain focused on what matters, which is bearing down on the cost of living." Keir Starmer insists there is no room for infighting in his in-tray as he pledges to turn the country's fortunes around.
After a torrid week for the government, with rumours of a leadership challenge from Health Secretary Wes Streeting and a bitter briefing war, the Prime Minister said he is determined to get back on track.
He said: "Every minute that's not spent dealing with the cost of living is a minute wasted of the political work of this government. That's my response to last week.
"I remain utterly focused on what matters to me most, which is bearing down on the cost of living and making people feel better off.
"I'm very conscious of the fact that people want to get on in life, they want to progress, they want more money in their pocket to do the things that matter to them.
"Give their kids a treat, go out for a meal, have a holiday, get on and progress and feel safe and secure.
