New sporting director sets out stall to turn Pittodrie into place foes are ‘scared’ to visit

- BY SCOTT BURNS

LUTZ PFANNENSTIEL loves the possibilities at Pittodrie but he's hellbent on it being a place visitors hate.

Aberdeen's new sporting director will look to make minor changes in the January transfer window, the immediate priority being to add more physicality to Jimmy Thelin’ side.

Pfannenstiel reckons the Dons boast a talented squad that hasn't quite hit the heights.

And, as far as he’s concerned, those heights entail trophies after declaring hed be roaming golf fairways instead of the transfer market if otherwise.

The 52-year-old German said: “I want Aberdeen to be one of these places that if you come here, then you should be worried and scared.

“Any team who come here should hate to come to Aberdeen and play football. If you can create that momentum where your team are extremely good and aggressive at home, it is one of those places you hate to be.

“If you can do that, you can achieve a lot of possibilities to pick up points at home.” A playing career that included stints south of the border never took the ex-keeper into the world of Scottish football.
