I 'blacked-up' for first acting role.. it should never have happened

EWAN McGregor has told how he “blacked-up" for his first acting role but admits it should “never have happened”.
The Perthshire-born star, now 54, says his first big break in local theatre playing an Indian character would no longer be acceptable.
Ewan told how he quit school in fifth year and got his first role with a local theatre company a week later.
He said: “I had been pestering Perth repertory theatre for years to work there and they were always saying, ‘Well, you can't do that because you need to be trained as a stage management or an acting ASM and you're only wee.
