Court hears Jacqueline learned of officer's fling away on duty

- BY ROBERT MCAULAY

A SCOTS army officer accused of killing his wife while kayaking in Australia had previously cheated on her, a court has heard.

Graeme Davidson, 55, originally from Glasgow, was charged earlier this year with murdering his wife Jacqueline.

The former Australian army major was also charged with fraud and attempted fraud in relation to insurance claims he made totalling more than almost half a million pounds.

In November 2020, the couple were kayaking on Lake Samsonvale, north of Brisbane, without life jackets, when Jacqueline drowned.

Her death was initially believed to be an accident but a homicide investigation was launched 18 months later.

Davidson, who had relocated to Thailand where he married a local woman, was later arrested on a visit to Brisbane.

Brisbane Supreme Court heard that Davidson had an affair with a woman during a posting in Papua New Guinea in 2018, which Jacqueline became aware of in 2019.
