Greens: Put extra cash into pupil meals

JOHN Swinney has been urged to expand free school meals provision with the extra cash the Scottish Government will receive as a result of the UK Budget.

All Scots pupils from primaries one to five are currently offered a free lunch when attending Classes.

Ross Greer, the Scottish Greens co-leader, believes the SNP government should now commit to expanding the policy to include those in primary six and seven.

It comes after Rachel Reeves used her Budget statement to announce the end of the two-child cap on benefits from April next year.
