Crocked Kasper hangs up his gloves for good

KASPER SCHMEICHEL has confirmed he has been forced to retire from football.

And the Celtic keeper admitted the decision has been made for him after suffering a shoulder injury.

The Dane dropped an injury bombshell in March, admitting that a shoulder issue may bring about the end of his career.

Schmeichel suffered the injury for Denmark against Portugal over a year ago and was forced to play on with the Scandinavians having used all of their subs.

He then aggravated the issue in Celtic's 4-1 home Europa League defeat to Stuttgart.

And the 39-year-old was left facing up to the possibility of calling time on his career with surgery required and the resulting year-long lay off to follow.

Schmeichel has already gone under the knife once but was facing a more serious op at a later date.
