Marko backed to follow up wonder goal by being big noise in Europe

- BY ANTHONY EVANS

NICKY DEVLIN has tipped Aberdeen matchwinner Marko Lazetic to make his mark on the Euro stage.

The Serb forward grabbed his first goal since arriving from AC Milan two months ago as a stunning solo effort in injury time sealed all three points at St Mirren four days ago.

Lazetic has been a bright spark for Jimmy Thelin's side in recent weeks, his solitary start coming in their 3-2 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk on matchday one in the Conference League.

In fact, he played a big part in the buildup to Devlin's goal, which almost sparked a late revival in the Pittodrie thriller.

Now a tricky tie against AEK Athens beckons in the Greek capital tomorrow night and Devlin reckons the calibre of fixture can bring the best out of the 21-year-old.

He said: "I'm pretty sure a big part of him coming to the club would have been for nights like the Shakhtar game.

"For somebody so young to be playing in Europe, it's good for him. He showed his qualities against Shakhtar, he gave them a hard time.
