Royals lead country on moving day

- JENNIFER NEWTON

AN emotional King Charles led the nation as it fell silent yesterday to honour those who have died in conflict.

The monarch was joined by senior members of the Royal Family, including Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as thousands of veterans for the annual Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in London.

Just before 11am, Charles led the royals out on to Whitehall before Big Ben struck and the 10,000 veterans fell silent in remembrance.

Camilla and Kate watched on from a balcony, both standing in quiet reflection.

The King laid the first wreath honouring the war dead, with his tribute featuring 41 open poppy petals mounted on black leaves.

Charles, who was dressed in Field Marshal uniform with a ceremonial frock coat, then poignantly saluted the Cenotaph.

A wreath was then laid on behalf of Camilla by her equerry, before Prince William followed in his father's footsteps.
