RANGERS chief Andrew Cavenagh is set for another transatlantic trip to take charge of their hunt for a new gaffer.

The American tycoon has set up a meeting in London tomorrow with senior Ibrox figures to discuss the next move after Sunday's sacking of boss Russell Martin.

The chairman will be joined at the summit by right-hand man and 49ers Enterprises exec Paraag Marathe-with the pair expected to take a lead role in the managerial search.

It comes amid reports last night that Rangers want to speak to former boss Steven Gerrard over a potential comeback.

Cavenagh's return from his Pennsylvania base comes just two weeks after he was forced to fly to Scotland to offer Martin support as 1500 fans gathered outside the Ibrox front door to demand his dismissal.

That backing ended over the weekend as Martin's side slipped up for the sixth time in just seven league games this season - with the 39-year-old axed after only 122 days in the job.
