Stuart would love Killie to emulate United

- BY MICHAEL BAILLIE

STUART KETTLEWELL insists watching Dundee United’s European exploits has whetted his appetite to manage in continental club competition.

The Kilmarnock manager was at Tannadice on Thursday to run the rule over Dundee United ahead of tomorrow's Premier Sports Cup last-16 clash.

Jim Goodwin's side's European adventure ended as they were knocked out by Rapid Vienna on penalties.

And the Killie gaffer admits if you don't want to test yourself at that level then you shouldn't be in the job.

Kettlewell said: “We all want to ply our trade at the highest level. If you look at the opposition they were up against, and I'm not being disrespectful, it wasn't a minnow - it wasn't a team that they're expected to beat. They were playing against a top-level side from what I could see.

“That challenges you in so many ways as a manager - or as a player.
