DRUG SUSPECT SNARED IN ALGARVE

A SUSPECTED drug trafficker is facing extradition to Scotland after being arrested in a swoop in Portugal.

William Byrne, 40, from Glasgow, was snared on an international arrest warrant in Boliqueime near Albufeira in the Algarve. The suspect was driving when intercepted as part of a multi-partner probe involving the UK's National Crime Agency.

Sources said he tried to escape but hadn't offered any violent resistance. One said: "He was unarmed.”
