Campaigners hire 'top-tier' lawyers for court battle

LUKE Mitchell's family have hired a team of new lawyers after the killer's supporters raised £22,000 for a fresh legal fight.

Work to challenge his conviction is under way after the appointment of a "brand-new, top-tier" team to reinvestigate his case.

Cash was raised after Mitchell's mum Corinne sent a bleating letter to supporters begging for cash last month.

She claimed the We Stand Together for Luke Mitchell Campaign had only 30 days to raise £20,000 to challenge "a grave miscarriage of justice".

In an update, a spokesperson for the group said: "We wanted to let everyone know that work with Luke's legal team has officially begun.

"This next stage will take time, as the lawyers carry out careful and thorough work to ensure every step is done properly and strategically.
