BRIAN McQuillan met William Beggs at Bennets - a popular gay nightclub in Glasgow.
The two men got chatting in the street outside after they helped break up a fight.
Beggs then invited Brian back to his flat in Doon Place, Kilmarnock, where he offered him a drink.
Brian, then 28, recalled: "He said it contained Grolsch beer. I started to feel intoxicated rather quickly.
"It did not cross my mind that my drink might be spiked with some drug.
