Anderson stays away from felling trees as he prepares to home in on his third world title at Ally Pally

GARY ANDERSON has locked away the chainsaw to ensure he doesn't cut down his Ally Pally bid.

The Scottish star returns to the World Championship 12 months after having his hopes chopped by shoulder damage sustained cutting down trees.

Two-time champ Anderson took painkillers to face Jeffrey De Graaf but the ache just worsened when he crashed out to the Swede.

The 55-year-old needs to keep working at his fishing lakes in the buildup to Saturday's opener against Adam Hunt.

But the chainsaw is being kept firmly in the shed after last year's mishap.

He said: "I was trying to cut through a trunk but I was on my tiptoes with a chainsaw in one hand, stretching above.

"When we went to London, [son] Tai went down to the practice room and I went down to get him.

"I'm about to throw a dart and I could not reach the bullseye. That's about as high as I could get the dart to go. I went, I'm in trouble here.

"But hey, it's part of the past now, I just get on with it. Keep the mouth shut and get on with it.

"I've got a hell of a lot of work to do at the fishing lakes and this is the time we've got to do it.
