New signing's goals vow as he checks in with Cornelius

YOUSSEF CHERMITI has promised Rangers fans goals after sealing a £10million deadline-day move to Ibrox.

The Portuguese striker signed a four-year deal after leaving Everton as Gers took their summer spending to around £35m.

Chermiti was joined by Canadian defender Derek Cornelius, who arrived from Marseille on loan with an option to buy next summer.

Cyriel Dessers' exit to Greek side Panathinaikos for £4m helped the club recoup some cash.

But the biggest news from Ibrox as the window closed was that Nico Raskin stayed despite his foll out with gaffer Russell Martin who dropped him for Sunday's Old Firm derby.

New boy Chermiti has followed £4.2m hitman Bojan Miovski to Ibrox and insists he's here to play.

Chermiti said: "The most important thing is the interest from the club and the manager.

"And of course, I want to play. So I'm coming here to play. I can bring good things for the team and the club.

"But the most important thing is making the fans happy. I can bring sharpness, quick feet, assists and goals. I just want to help everyone here.
