THE ERYRI MOUNTAIN THAT'S LITERALLY AMONG WORLD'S MOST 'EYE-CATCHING'

- By ANDREW FORGRAVE Countryside and Tourism Editor

EYE-TRACKING technology was used to find out which of the world's mountains really capture people's attentions.

Wales is renowned for its peaks but from a list of 56 mountain ranges from around the globe, just one from the country made the top 20.

Were Wales to be rolled flat, its uplands would account for 80% of the country's total land surface. Some 188 peaks are officially classed as mountains and, by one count, there are 630 hills and probably hundreds more depending on how you define them.

Mountain landscapes continue to rank among the most inspiring destinations for travellers. To find out which of the better known peaks are the most captivating visually, a study was held using eye-tracking equipment and a series of photographs.
