UK's second worst place for missed bin collections was in N. Wales

A NORTH Wales council was among the UK’s worst offenders for missed bin collections in 2024, new analysis shows. Denbighshire lagged only behind Barnsley in South Yorkshire in terms of poor performance.

An investigation by the Mirror found that local authorities across Britain failed to collect more than 10,000 bins every working day last year. Overall, a staggering 2.5m collections were missed as local authorities fell short in delivering an essential public service.

Councils blamed the failures on strikes, safety regulations and even ‘warm and wet weather’

The TaxPayers’ Alliance said the situation was ‘shocking’ but the Local Government Association said that, overall, public satisfaction with collections was ‘very high’.
